Advertising Platform with Hybrid Cloud
Hybrid Cloud approach allows to connect the elasticity of public cloud offerings with low cost and security of utilising self-hosted infrastructure.
Client was a European news publishing company with many popular internet brands. All of these services were integrated with a custom Advertising Platform that provided personalised advertisements for every single page refresh, resulting in billions of monthly requests with SLAs expressed in milliseconds.
In order to meet the usual demand we hosted the application cluster in the customer's datacenter. For peak usage times we implemented a mechanism to scale the cluster into AWS EC2 infrastructure allowing the customer to handle any load. This approach also doubles as a Disaster Recovery Strategy in case of customer's infrastructure failures.
Other AWS services were also utilised to improve content delivery, caching and custom routing for AB testing. It was all possible thanks to global AWS infrastructure allowing to host the solutions near the end user.

Hybrid Database as a Service implementation
European news publishing company - required a self-service implementation of database instances provisioning. It allows the application developers to create and scale clusters of multiple types of open-source database engines via a web UI.
Thanks to this solution developers of company's portals and services did not have to spend time provisioning the storage layers and could just start using them via provided client libraries.
Another benefit from centralising database config management was uniformity of the solution, and therefore ease of support. A single team of skilled database engineers were much better suited to react to issues and handle persistent workload recovery and rollback.

Geolocation based targeting for Advertising Platform
Client was a European news publishing company that acquired multiple geolocation focused services like a public transit route search portal. In order to monetise the portals they decided to integrate native advertisements targeted based on customer location or journey target.
The geo advertising campaigns turned out to be a huge success with high conversion rates. This success was possible thanks to our highly optimised architecture allowing fast geo radius lookups that produce engaging advertisements in sub-millisecond time.
